Description
A pipe fitting is defined as a part used in a piping system, for changing direction, branching or for change of pipe diameter, and which is mechanically joined to the system. There are many different types of fittings and they are the same in all sizes and schedules as the pipe.
Fittings are divided into three groups:
- Buttweld (BW) fittings whose dimensions, dimensional tolerances et cetera are defined in the ASME B16.9 standards. Light-weight corrosion resistant fittings are made to MSS SP43.
- Socket Weld (SW) fittings Class 3000, 6000, 9000 are defined in the ASME B16.11 standards.
- Threaded (THD), screwed fittings Class 2000, 3000, 6000 are defined in the ASME B16.11 standards.
Types of Fittings
- 45 Elbow – make 45° changes of direction in the run of pipe.
- 90 Elbow – make 90° changes of direction in the run of pipe.
- 180 Return – make 180° changes of direction in the run of pipe.
- Bend –
- Cap – seals the end of pipe.
- Concentric Reducer – centerline of the inlet and outlet is at the same level.
- Coupling – joins two outside diameter pipes together.
- Dished Head Cap – has a straight tangent with a rounded head.
- Eccentric Reducer – centerline of the inlet and outlet are at different levels, offset is equals 1/2 times the larger ID minus the smaller ID.
- Eeldolet – a welding branch for a 90° fitting.
- Flat Bushing –
- Flat Head Cap – flat plates normally cut for pipe at the site.
- Full Coupling – also called coupling, joins pipe two pipe or nipples.
- Half Coupling – can be welded directly to the run pipe to make a branch connection.
- Hex Bushing –
- Hex Head Plug – seals the threaded end of fitting.
- Lateral – a welsed branch 45° from the main run of pipe.
- Mitered Elbow – a elbow is fabricated from pipe and is not a fitting.
- Nipolet – a one piece fitting threaded branch with a nipple for drains, valves and vents.
- Socolet – a Socket branch for a pipe.
- Saddle – a saddle or tapping saddle is used when you do not want to shut down a pipeline, but want to add a branch.
- Split Tee – wraps around a pipe and has one branch 90° from the main run of pipe, used when you do not want to shut down a pipeline, but want to add a branch.
- Square Head Plug – seals the threaded end of fitting.
- Straight Cross – has two branch 90° from the main run of pipe.
- Straight Tee – has one branch 90° from the main run of pipe.
- Street Elbow – a 90° elbow with a threaded male one end and threaded female other end.
- Stub-in – it is the term for a branch of pipe welded directly into the side of a main pipe run. Also a stub-in (long/short) is a fitting with a flared end that a lap joint flange slides over allowing it to rotate in order to align with a mating flange.
- Swage –
- Sweepolet – a welding saddle branch for a pipe.
- Reducer –
- Reducing Cross – has two smaller branchs 90° from the main run of pipe.
- Reducing Coupling – joins two different outside diameter pipes togeather.
- Reducing Tee – has one smaller branch 90° from the main run of pipe.
- Reinforcing Saddle – these are split in two pieces that fully encircle the branch connection.
- Round Cap – seals the threaded or plain end of pipe.
- Round Head Plug – seals the threaded end of fitting.
- Threadolet – a threaded branch for a pipe.
- Union – a screwed joint design consisting of three interconnected pieces.
- Weldolet – a welding branch for a pipe.
With considering wide variety of types and materials of fittings, ITOK TEJARAT ARMAN is able to offer you all types of fitting needed, as a package.
